WPPI!!VEGAS BABY!!!

February 25th, 2011

I took a quick vacation to get better at my craft. WPPI rocked this year and I walked away with a new set of tools and skills. Look out 2011.

I was at Las Vegas earlier this week for WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International.)

WPPI is pretty much Spring Break for Wedding Photographers.

I was able to meet and greet with some vendors and other wedding photographers from around the Globe.

It was great being able to experience this for the first time and I believe I walked away from the experience a better photographer.

Look out 2011, with a new bag of skills and tools- I’m ready for you.

This was our second time photographing Jaja and Jeremy, our first was their Engagement Session in San Diego.

We arrived at her hotel with a couple hours left before their big moment.

Jaja began to get ready. With the a grin on her face from the moment she saw us, we knew how excited she was!

Upon arriving at Wayfarer’s Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes, I noticed this beautiful walkway. We proceeded to taking some portraits of Jaja and her girls while Jeremy signed his half of the wedding paperwork.

The timeline was lean, so we rushed to the main Chapel.

Built by Frank Lloyd Wright’s legacy in the 1950’s, this tree chapel sits amidst redwoods and a spectacular view of the Pacific. Large clear windows with long awnings make this photographer’s dream enjoyable for anyone. If you get a chance to visit Wayfarer’s, do it. You won’t regret it.

Giggles and chuckles were exchanged at the altar during the ceremony. The sounds of happiness echoed off the bare glass surrounding the chapel.

After the ceremony, we brought the couple to a spot overlooking Catalina Island to take their first portraits as husband and wife. It’s a good thing we decided to slow down and take some portraits, slow points like these are fleeting and can sometimes be the only time couples can enjoy each other’s company during their wedding day.

The first things I noticed when we arrived at the wedding reception were the facecakes. Each table at their wedding reception had a different flavor cake with photo from Jaja and Jeremy’s travels throughout the years.

The room settled as it was that special time in the wedding reception for speeches. Jaja’s parents could not be there at the wedding, so when her sister read her father’s letter to her, all the eyes in the room watered. Even yours truly. But let’s not forget about the groom. I watched Jeremy dance with his mother during the reception. With every sway, every step, we all felt the emotion and love between mother and son.

As their families danced the reception away, I stole the bridal party away and went for a quick portrait session next to shore. The group was literally jumping for joy as their best friends shared a kiss together, I’d never seen a group so happy for the bride and groom.

Congratulations Jaja and Jeremy!

Toni comes from a extensively large family, stretching from coast to coast some event came from Georgia to celebrate her birthday Roast.

As the night went on, laughter poured out and even I couldn’t hold back the chuckles.

With each special guest, I was able to get a glimpse into the difference that Toni makes into their lives. From her coworkers at AT&T, to the other branches of her family tree, you could just feel the love and respect they had for Toni.
