Jimm and Maly met when they lived back in Cambodia over a decade ago. Maly was the first to move here for college. Through emails, short phone calls, and skype they stayed in touch with each other til Jimm was able to move here himself.
All the patience and distance they endured paid off. On this day family from all over the world joined them for their very special occasion.
The Ceremony at the Japanese Gardens in Cal State Long Beach was gorgeous, although it was a small intimate wedding there was no shortage of emotion and joy from the guests.
The Reception at the Villa in Westminster was extremely wild. Apparently, in Cambodian weddings, it’s customary for them to do something crazy for every table of guests to receive their wedding money. My vocabulary lacks the word to describe how crazy it was. From putting food in strange places for each other to eat, to face smashing the couple; every table was able to outdo the previous dare.
I enjoyed being a part of Jimm and Maly’s wedding. I saw things I’ve never seen before and enjoyed moments I’d never experienced before. By the end of the night, I appreciated my job that much more to be part of something so special.
