Kat and Jan were married at the end of summer at the Retro Ranch in Temecula, California. They were referred to me by one of our  favorite second shooters, Ferdinand.

Kat and Jan both love to rock climb and paintball- I doubt they do both at the same time, but I may have just created a new sport.

From what I can remember, it was 110 degrees on their wedding day- people were anxiously fanning themselves to stave the heat.

A dry hot wind blew and it made it hard for the mothers’ to light the candle as the ceremony started.

The anxiety went disappeared and time slowed as soon as Kat began walking down the aisle.

There were several tears that dropped and laughters shared that day.

My favorite moment was when Kat’s dad had pulled the trigger a bit too soon and mistook Kat and Jan’s first dance as the father-daughter dance. Jan played on like a true gentleman and kept his cool.

Right after the first dance, a flashmob broke out and a large group of cousins, colleagues, and friends danced in celebration of the beautiful newlyweds.

Enjoy their photos as we enjoyed being a part of their wedding.

Nick and Ken met during their college years. They met during a creative arts class that started a huge trend in their relationship- a passion for handcrafted things. In fact, they made some of the details for their wedding. They created rocket shaped table cards, Nick brewed his own special blend of beer for his wedding and Ken created a new cocktail for the ladies. I believe they made some special candy as well, but don’t quote me on that…

Rancho del Diablo Dormido was built by its owners several years ago and is named after a large natural monolithic structure that looks like a sleeping devil. As they say, “when the devil sleeps, the good in all is awakened…” A beautiful home during the week, this venue is a perfect choice for a smaller, more intimate guest list.

There was something very different shooting at this venue. It might’ve been the right combination of temperature, lighting, and location… But everybody was connected emotionally. As the sun set and thermometer loosened up, so did their close friends and family. The laughs and tears poured on.

When the dance floor opened up, there wasn’t a filled seat in Rancho De Diablo Dormido. The music reverberated off the surrounding hills and the darkness enhanced the mood. Normally nobody gets down on a Sunday wedding, but tonight was the exception. Even their grandparents were rockin their socks off!
