Fizzah and Ronnie’s Nikkah

December 30th, 2011

I met Fizzah in the classroom over a year ago, like me she’s also an event photographer. I felt flattered and honored that she asked me to shoot her Nikkah at the Grove earlier this year. I understand how hard it is for other shooters to look for photographers, and it’s always a compliment when a photographer asks me to shoot his or her wedding. Ronnie and I have alot in common actually, we both enjoy big cars with lots of horsepower and we both come from the Midwest. During their first look and romantic session, there was one thing very obvious. These two, were in love– MADLY in love.

If you could recall, I photographed Josh and Theresa’s engagement session earlier this year.

Josh and Theresa got married at Sunset Hills in Apple Valley, CA. With lightning storms, 50 mile per hour winds, and a brushfire in the background, the day did not look well for this gorgeous couple. But after a few hours, right before their ceremony, the skies cleared up, the winds settled, and the Apple Valley Brushfire Response team quickly took care of the fire. Josh and Theresa’s wedding continued and very beautifully, I might say.

Tears fell during the ceremony, and the applause filled the room as the curtains revealed the beautiful weather during Josh and Theresa’s first kiss as husband and wife.

During the Reception, Josh had a special song to sing to Theresa and was joined by his groomsmen. Complete with a choreographed dance number, Josh made sure Theresa would never forget their special night.

Josh and Theresa’s wedding was a great reminder that even though not everything may fall into place early on in a wedding, it doesn’t mean things won’t work out beautifully, as they did that night.

A few days after their engagement session, MTV contacted me for a wedding to cover and for Josh and Theresa’s wedding, we were joined by MTV’s media crew to film the wedding for their Show “Quiero Mi Boda.” If you’d like to view a short clip of their wedding as featured on “Quiero Mi Boda,” please click this link: Josh and Theresa @ Quiero Mi Boda.

We photographed Travis and Stephanie’s engagement earlier this year in Fullerton. *If you haven’t viewed it yet, please click this link: Travis and Stephanie’s Engagement Session.

Not very far away was their wedding ceremony at the amazing Villa Del Sol. Known as the “pride and soul of the community,” Villa Del Sol was built in the 20’s to house stores and restaurant, almost a century later the venue is as beautiful as ever. It’s become one of the most popular wedding venues in Fullerton, California.

Stephanie started her day at home surrounded by her close family members, while Travis wrote his vows at Villa Del Sol with his groomsmen.

Their wedding started an hour before the sunset and finished with enough light for us to photograph one of the most beautiful romantic sessions ever. Travis went from pale and shaking to the smooth and suave gentleman Stephanie fell in love with.

The passing traffic exploded with a volley of honks and congratulatory shrieks as they drove by the newlyweds kissing in the middle of the streets.

Something out of the Ordinary. :) Dave+Lina’s Wedding Video at the Admiral Baker Golf Course

August 26th, 2011

Video is not something I normally do, I took on a special request for Lina and David. They had their beautiful ceremony at the Admiral Baker Golf Course in San Diego. I hope you enjoy their video and afterwards, take a look at the other gorgeous weddings I’ve covered 🙂

I did my very first wedding video for Lina and David a few months back.

Lina and David met years ago. Built on a very strong relationship, this couple lasted through months of no visual contact when David would be out on deployments.

I support military couples 100%. I believe that they have the potential to be strongest relationships on the planet. It takes a special woman to hold on for a man an extraordinary man who goes off on deployment.

Nick and Ken met during their college years. They met during a creative arts class that started a huge trend in their relationship- a passion for handcrafted things. In fact, they made some of the details for their wedding. They created rocket shaped table cards, Nick brewed his own special blend of beer for his wedding and Ken created a new cocktail for the ladies. I believe they made some special candy as well, but don’t quote me on that…

Rancho del Diablo Dormido was built by its owners several years ago and is named after a large natural monolithic structure that looks like a sleeping devil. As they say, “when the devil sleeps, the good in all is awakened…” A beautiful home during the week, this venue is a perfect choice for a smaller, more intimate guest list.

There was something very different shooting at this venue. It might’ve been the right combination of temperature, lighting, and location… But everybody was connected emotionally. As the sun set and thermometer loosened up, so did their close friends and family. The laughs and tears poured on.

When the dance floor opened up, there wasn’t a filled seat in Rancho De Diablo Dormido. The music reverberated off the surrounding hills and the darkness enhanced the mood. Normally nobody gets down on a Sunday wedding, but tonight was the exception. Even their grandparents were rockin their socks off!

Josh and Theresa were engaged last year. They were taking care of some movie-famous elephants when one particular elephant had a package for Theresa.

A box. And inside that box was the ring that Theresa had been waiting for all her life…

And that brings us to today’s engagement session. We started our day off at a museum with a beautiful view of the whole city. Josh and Theresa got right on it, these two are naturals!

The weather went from bright and warm to dark and cold. I thought things were turning for the worst but when Josh held Theresa closer to keep her warm, it made for one extremely beautiful photo.

We finished our afternoon off by taking a long walk down the pier and having a great dinner together.

Engagement sessions are a great way for photographers to get to know their couples better.

Rancho Las Lomas is one of the best wedding venues in Southern California. With a mixture of great details and a beautiful location, I felt extremely privileged to be part of Rory and Paul’s gorgeous wedding day.

We started our day with the Ladies. With every minute going by Rory’s excitement became more and more apparent. Her smile become wider as the hour drew on and her boquet bloomed beautifully with vivid petals that filled the room with a scent fit for a royal audience.

Rory and Paul understood that after their first kiss as newlyweds, their day would jump to a hundred miles per hour and they’ll find themselves in the limo on the way to their honeymoon. Rory and Paul took half an hour before the ceremony to take a moment and give each other a first look, a time set apart for them to slow their day down just enough for them to enjoy each other.

After their beautiful ceremony, Rory and Paul walked among Rancho Las Lomas’ orange trees where the romance continued beneath the failing light.

As their day ended and the evening began, the night was filled with the roars of white tigers, the shrill screams of the numerous parakeets around Rancho las Lomas; but the most memorable sound of all was the two families, now united, celebrating the beginning of Rory and Paul’s beautiful union.

Sean and Kate met six years ago while jogging at the beach. They ran into each other (pun intended, I know…lame) while stopping at a drinking fountain.

From there they hit it off and found out how much they had in common…

… They both are infatuated with lemon meringue pies.

…they love french vanilla in their coffee….

…and of course, after a busy week, they enjoyed long jogs at the beach to clear their minds.

Kate is a small business owner in Glendale and Sean is a hardhat diver for the US NAVY. They both come from very busy lives and are used to enjoying themselves as much as they can when the opportunity presents itself.

Busy lives means less time for photos, with only an hour and fifteen minutes, we set off for a quick yet still very romantic shoot in Laguna Beach.

I loved today’s location. The buildings around the streets of Laguna Beach are a thing of wonder. No two are the same, modern designs next to seventy year old houses provide an interesting setting for photos.

We finished the day watching the sun slowly dip below the horizon as we sat on the rocks at the beach.

The day started out cloudy with some showers here and there… It wasn’t looking too great for Shannon and Michael’s wedding day.

However sometimes, things get darker right before the light peeks through.

Shannon and Michael were married in Hemet, part of the Inland Empire in Southern California, I had never shot a wedding in this area or location before. But I’m always up to try something new.

I was fortunate enough to don a military uniform for a quick career in the US Army and have always played with the thought of photographing a military wedding so when I learned about today, I got anxious.

I’m always grateful to be part of someone’s wedding, but to me, this was very special. I currently have many friends in Afghanistan and I understand the sacrifices one makes daily while serving in the US Armed Forces. To see a decorated Veteran so happy definitely tugged at some heartstrings.

From the moment I saw him and throughout the whole wedding, Michael was smiling- this guy had a grin from ear to ear that got wider the moment he saw Shannon.

Shannon on the other hand is one hilarious gal, always crackin’ jokes whenever the opportunity presented itself. One of Michael’s buddies’ favorite memory of her was their first meeting, where she laughed at his tattoos for hours. Shannon was a trooper, facing some rainy wedding day obstacles without hesitation. She marched through muddy lawns and was able to corral this platoon of leathernecks.

I’m always grateful to be part of any wedding. Shannon and Michael, thank you for allowing me to be part of your wedding day.

Brad and Christine’s wedding ceremony took place on a secluded beach in San Diego. It wasn’t the largest wedding I’ve ever covered but that didn’t take away from the emotions and moments that I was able to witness and capture.

From anxious family members to excited loved ones, this wedding had it all.

Brad and Christine had been together since high school, sharing numerous years of happiness and laughs.

And yes, I mean laughs- Christine loves to play pranks and definitely is the goofball of the relationship, check out her wedding shoes!

As the sun set, and their guests headed to their reception. We photographed their romantic session in front of a beautiful San Diego beach sunset.
