I had the chance to team up with the Cypress College Veterans Organization (CCVO) and photograph some of the strongest women in the world.

For one morning, we pampered these ladies. Provided them breakfast, brought in professionals for back rubs, and a make over.

I donated my services to CCVO so that the female Vets can have a portrait of themselves after their makeover.

Don’t let the term “female Veterans,” fool you. While some are finished with their service, some of the ladies are either in the inactive phase of their contract or  still play an active part in protecting our freedom.

For all the sacrifices these ladies gave, one morning is nothing compared to the countless days they put on the line for our freedom.

The CCVO plays a very active role in supporting various veterans get the education and support that they deserve. On weekends you may find the members of the CCVO giving back through various acts of community service, taking part in charity events and finding any way to help those around them.

Miguel, Amelia, and their two Adorable Girls

December 31st, 2011

Stop by and Check out Miguel and Amelia’s Gorgeous Family Portraits. When I was a kid, I always heard about how boring family sessions can be, so I made sure that not only did Miguel and Amelia had fun, but to pick a location where their children can have fun and interact with the settings without the distracting playground stuff. No matter how old you are, a day in the woods can be a great experience!

I met Miguel and his family about a year ago. Miguel, is actually another photographer friend of mine. When I was starting out, he was one of the photographers who took me under their wing and showed me the ropes in this business. Again, I was very privileged to be selected by a fellow photographer for photos. There wasn’t a dull moment throughout the whole shoot, although shy at first, the kids eventually warmed up and started running about and left me alone with their parents– it had been a while since Miguel and Amelia’s engagement photos so I figured we had time for a few intimate sessions. This was our second time photographing Jaja and Jeremy, our first was their Engagement Session in San Diego.

We arrived at her hotel with a couple hours left before their big moment.

Jaja began to get ready. With the a grin on her face from the moment she saw us, we knew how excited she was!

Upon arriving at Wayfarer’s Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes, I noticed this beautiful walkway. We proceeded to taking some portraits of Jaja and her girls while Jeremy signed his half of the wedding paperwork.

The timeline was lean, so we rushed to the main Chapel.

Built by Frank Lloyd Wright’s legacy in the 1950’s, this tree chapel sits amidst redwoods and a spectacular view of the Pacific. Large clear windows with long awnings make this photographer’s dream enjoyable for anyone. If you get a chance to visit Wayfarer’s, do it. You won’t regret it.

Giggles and chuckles were exchanged at the altar during the ceremony. The sounds of happiness echoed off the bare glass surrounding the chapel.

After the ceremony, we brought the couple to a spot overlooking Catalina Island to take their first portraits as husband and wife. It’s a good thing we decided to slow down and take some portraits, slow points like these are fleeting and can sometimes be the only time couples can enjoy each other’s company during their wedding day.

The first things I noticed when we arrived at the wedding reception were the facecakes. Each table at their wedding reception had a different flavor cake with photo from Jaja and Jeremy’s travels throughout the years.

The room settled as it was that special time in the wedding reception for speeches. Jaja’s parents could not be there at the wedding, so when her sister read her father’s letter to her, all the eyes in the room watered. Even yours truly. But let’s not forget about the groom. I watched Jeremy dance with his mother during the reception. With every sway, every step, we all felt the emotion and love between mother and son.

As their families danced the reception away, I stole the bridal party away and went for a quick portrait session next to shore. The group was literally jumping for joy as their best friends shared a kiss together, I’d never seen a group so happy for the bride and groom.

Congratulations Jaja and Jeremy!

Probably one of the most gorgeous weddings I’ve ever photographed filled with Beautiful colors and a wonderful, loving family. Congratulations to Josh and Lisa.

We started the day out at the epic Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes. Their hotel room had a bangin’ view of the coast. Lisa and her bridesmaids were getting ready for what was to be one of the most memorable days of her life.

When we arrived at  La Venta Inn My jaw dropped at the view and at how gorgeous the location was. The place was beautifully decorated with the roses.

The live band played into the reception. Setting a great mood and getting the guests going.
