I had the pleasure of being the wedding photographer for one of my oldest friends.

Their wedding took place at the David L Baker Golf Course in Fountain Valley.

Stay tuned for the more gorgeous images from these two!

We photographed Jon and Liz’s wild engagement session this past summer. If you haven’t checked out those photos, go ahead and do so!

Jon’s day started in Seal Beach, in a quaint little beach house with his father and a few of his friends and his dog.

While Liz got ready at the comfort of her Father’s house in Orange County.

Not everything goes according to plan when it comes to life in general, Jon and Liz’s wedding was not the exception.

Right after Liz’s mother laced up her dress, her brother walks up to her and tells her news that would change the course and drastically effect her wedding day.

Ari, her brother, told her that he had been on and off the phone with the Limo company for the past hour. At first they were running late, then nothing. The last call was to tell him that her sister wedding did not have the reserved limo available. Their limo broke down on the way to Orange County and the back up limo went out of commission on the way there.

Liz, takes the news kinda hard. But just like our 8 mile hike of an engagement session , she kept her chin up, moved on and figured out the ride situation for her and her wedding party.

We arrived at St Leon’s Cathedral for her wedding an hour later, with enough time to spare…

Her wedding was gorgeous, one of the most colorful I’ve been too. Her and Jon make the perfect couple, both funny, and quick witted.

Their family, just as funny. They approached me with a pretty funny request- they wanted a Mafia Style photo. Of course I obliged.

It’s been some time since I’ve blogged, so I thought I’d kick of the year by doing my first full Black and White post. *Their wedding was shot in color, I’ve just been wanting to do one of these for a while now…**

We photographed Julie and Carlos gorgeous wedding in Orange County this past year.

I met Carlos through my wife, who went to school with Julie. I got along with Carlos very well, we’re both into cars and his interest in the military kept our conversations long and pleasant.

The thing I remember most about Julie was that she’s into Video Games as much as I am into photography, her gaming system trumps my photo editing set up. She showed me her gaming room and my jaw dropped.

Their wedding day was filled with joy and laughter along with the occasional happy tears followed by a very emotional and eventful wedding ceremony.

When I dropped off their wedding album last month, I met their adorable firstborn, Elijah, who quickly took a liking to me.

I’m very happy to report that this couple was as happy as the day I shot these photos. They looked a bit sleep deprived but after meeting Elijah, I knew it was worth it.

Here’s to you and your beautiful family Carlos and Julie!

Elizabeth and Jon both share a hobby with me and my wife. They love hiking, here’s a quick peak (see what I did there? ;)) at our latest engagement session/hike with this awesome couple. These two have so much love for each other, it made my camera melt. All joking aside, I have to applaud these two. An 8-mile hike in dress shoes/heels isn’t anything to laugh at, but these two, astonishingly excited throughout the whole session, were great.

This won’t be the last you’ll see of Elizabeth and Jon. Stay tuned!

Kytia and Jerrell, an Anniversary in the Woods

February 4th, 2012

we joined kytia and jerrell for their anniversary portrait session in the romantic woods surrounding the fullerton hills in southern california. We enjoyed a warm afternoon in the golden fall light. Kytia and Jerrell were married in Hawaii, on a destination wedding.

Kytia and Jerrell were married in Hawaii a few years back before we knew them. This past fall, we shared a special romantic session with them for their Anniversary.

As we walked around the woods, I got to know Jerrell and Kytia a bit more. We talked about Jerrell’s comic book series, “the Red R,” And Kytia’s blossoming acting and modeling career.

I knew that Kytia was used to being photographed and Jerrell was normally behind a pencil when it came to creating art, so this shoot was a bit more challenging than usual.  To keep Kytia from being bored, we made sure that it wouldn’t be the same as any fashion shoot she’d been to, so at the risk of sounding cheesy and cliché we had to keep it real (cue 90’s hiphop music.)

Nick and Ken met during their college years. They met during a creative arts class that started a huge trend in their relationship- a passion for handcrafted things. In fact, they made some of the details for their wedding. They created rocket shaped table cards, Nick brewed his own special blend of beer for his wedding and Ken created a new cocktail for the ladies. I believe they made some special candy as well, but don’t quote me on that…

Rancho del Diablo Dormido was built by its owners several years ago and is named after a large natural monolithic structure that looks like a sleeping devil. As they say, “when the devil sleeps, the good in all is awakened…” A beautiful home during the week, this venue is a perfect choice for a smaller, more intimate guest list.

There was something very different shooting at this venue. It might’ve been the right combination of temperature, lighting, and location… But everybody was connected emotionally. As the sun set and thermometer loosened up, so did their close friends and family. The laughs and tears poured on.

When the dance floor opened up, there wasn’t a filled seat in Rancho De Diablo Dormido. The music reverberated off the surrounding hills and the darkness enhanced the mood. Normally nobody gets down on a Sunday wedding, but tonight was the exception. Even their grandparents were rockin their socks off!

Josh and Theresa in Santa Monica

Josh and Theresa were engaged last year. They were taking care of some movie-famous elephants when one particular elephant had a package for Theresa.

A box. And inside that box was the ring that Theresa had been waiting for all her life…

And that brings us to today’s engagement session. We started our day off at a museum with a beautiful view of the whole city. Josh and Theresa got right on it, these two are naturals!

The weather went from bright and warm to dark and cold. I thought things were turning for the worst but when Josh held Theresa closer to keep her warm, it made for one extremely beautiful photo.

We finished our afternoon off by taking a long walk down the pier and having a great dinner together.

Engagement sessions are a great way for photographers to get to know their couples better.
